General:
Annual herb from a fibrous root; stems decumbent, several, branched, 30-60 cm long.
Leaves:
Basal leaves lacking; stem leaves alternate, widely lanceolate to wedge-shaped, the blades 0.5-7 cm long, the stalks short, winged; stipules smooth, 2-6 mm long, fringed at the tips.
Flowers:
Inflorescence of several flowers in crowded, globe- or head-shaped axillary or terminal panicles; perianths green with pinkish margins, 2-2.5 mm long.
Fruits:
Achenes, 3-angled or lens-shaped, 1.5-2 mm long, roundish, black, pimply, shiny.

Habitat / Range

Mesic to dry disturbed sites and gravel bars in the lowland zone; locally frequent in SW BC (Vancouver area); recently introduced from Asia.
